The Mark Jirikovec Orchestra was formed in October of 1985 as a 6 piece group. The band plays a wide variety of Bohemian, German, polkas and waltzes to Big Band music and also some 50's & 60's, Rock & Roll. The band has a number of recordings on the Polkaland and MJ recording labels.
Along with Mark are five great friends that make up the band. One unique thing about this band is that all the members play more than one instrument in which it shows the versatility of this fine group. In 1993 Mark was honored with the Wis. Orchestra Leader of the Year Award. He is the youngest person to ever receive this award; which is voted by his fellow orchestra leaders. Music has been a big part of Mark's family. His great grandfather, Adolph Pelischek had a brass band in the early 1900's . Grandfather, Jim Jirikovec played with the Romy Gosz band for 28 years, Grandfather Bill Siebold had his own band for a number of years, and Uncle Tom Siebold had his own band called the Brass Buttons. So you can tell Polka Music is in his blood. The band is well known throughout the state of Wisconsin and the Midwest and in 2004 were selected to play at the National Polka Festival in Ennis, Texas. They will play for any occasions such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, public dances, and Polka Festivals wherever great music is needed.
